The bubble burst, loud And fast, hard and angry, Right in my face, exactly when I did not expect it. What a Jewy-cushy life I’ve had! When a kid, some hassles, some Name calling, an occasional shove, My cap removed once to examine My absent horns. So a bit of Humiliation, and some noted that I was Outside the normal circles — no Winter tree decorating invites. But then too some begrudged respect For hangin’ in aligned, with the Pity a father returned from that war Demanded of the kid, due to the European Horror. But that, as they say, was then, And now, as we say, is now I’ve not myself been insulted, nor Attacked, nor even in concrete fear, I’ve had a well-insulated life. But I Shiver with anticipation. How long Will the insulation weather the Now so heated world? My bubble has burst. We teeter, friends, we all teeter And the oldest hatred enflames Too many with too much Passion. But while I shiver, I’ll not despair, For by whom shall the families of The earth be blessed? Father Avram, let us keep faith. Am Yisrael Chai.
