January Walk

Returning from a short trip, 
I caught a cold, and laid 
Myself up for a few days.

I took a walk today after
The cold weather and the cold.
First time out other than

Sniffing the air in a week.
A brisk January Los Angeles
Day, sweater weather

Stretching leg weather
First day out weather
Fine day, fine day.

A brief confinement
Sharpens the pleasure 
Of a brief walk

And sharpens the point 
Of the daily adage, 
Modeh ani,
Thanks Lord for getting me 
Up each morning.
