Certainty
How much certainty Informs me daily? A whole lot, yet None at all. I expound: Tomorrow, the sun Shall rise. That much is certain. Yet some day there Will not be a day, The better informed Inform me, saying The sun may not in fact Rise. And of this , all I have is Their assurances And my uncertainty. So tomorrow the sun Shall rise, of that I’m certain. Yet My betters caution Me to an ultimate Otherwise. I’ll take those Cautions seriously But perhaps not Quite as they would Have me grasp it: For tomorrow, in my Devotions, I’ll say, As I always do, The ancient recitation. Praise are You Master of the Cosmos Bringing forth light, Forming the dark, Filling full our being Creating The All. Then I’ll take a moment To enjoy the sun Before it gets too hot.
