I am far from The screaming sirens. We have here no Hardened rooms, We do not drill in Dropping to our knees, Covering our heads. No barrages head our way; Nor do we fear Armed squads, determined, Trained, hard, angry, Ready to penetrate Borders, homes, bodies. Claiming vengeance. I am far and do not fear For myself, But I tremble, shaken. My borders are secure My boundaries breeched The battle there, seemingly distant, Feels a battle here. The armed squads there Have here those who Cheer. I do not cheer the counter That I nonetheless approve Pained that the result Shall be more pain for more. From where shall our peace Descend? From whence shall the wise Arise which might Give more calm Voice? To Whom should Our eyes and cries arise? And when? And when? I am here, so distant, Safe. And I tremble and shake. To Whom should our Eyes and cries arise?
