A New Look at an Old Leaf
A friend took a picture, As we all do, But with care, and considered Lighting. It was a picture Of a leaf that another Friend gave to that One. The upper right is dark, But twinkled, roughly Textured, veins pricking Out. The lower left, light, white, Bright, but also twinkled, Also roughly textured, a simple Photograph. When I saw it, wall mounted and Enlarged, I gasped at my friend’s Shaping a leaf into its own Universe. He is not, I think, a particularly Religious man, but in reshaping This personal universe — for isn’t Art The reshaping of a new universe? — Isn’t he also praising and revealing The glories woven into Creation? I don’t think my friend Is particularly religious, but Whether no or yes, his picture, His photograph, his art, in which He shaped a new universe, is For me, a wondrous Prayer. Amen. Selah.
